“There are many strands in my life, but
they’re all of a piece,” says Pat Donohoe,
writer and artist living in Shepherdstown, W.Va.

Pat has enjoyed all of her careers, from
English teacher, freelance writer, and
magazine editor to public relations director
and ordained minister. She’s learned a lot
from all the different places she’s lived and
people she’s known, especially her family
and her husband, David C. Borchard.

Throughout her life, two major strands keep
emerging—writing and painting.“ Each enriches
the other,” Pat says. She uses her knack for
creative writing to pen statements about what
inspired her abstracted florals and landscapes.
And she draws upon her imagination in writing
Civil War books based upon a collection of
Civil War letters from her ancestors.
